Addressing Racism as a Public Health Crisis
Milwaukee County, WI. The county declared racism a public health crisis and passed a series of measures to address inequities across all facets of government, from budgeting and staff training to addressing internal policies and procedures to center racial equity in decision-making.
Closing the Workhouse
St. Louis, MO. Local activists have pushed for the closure of the city’s medium-security prison, known as “The Workhouse.” After several years of public pressure, the campaign adjusted its strategy to focus on defunding the Workhouse through the budget process.
